Day 5 from Hughes to Newport

Today we rode our bikes from Hughes to Newport. We went down hill on ray street. We rode passed the boys and girl club. We had to watch the traffic from the cars more closely than our other days because they was doing construction on the roads so, some of the lanes was blocked off. We went down by the justice center and turn on Broadway so we could easily be in Kentucky. When we got close to the bridge we had to stop because some of my classmates did not like the bridge because it is too high up and we are right above the water. After we made sure everybody was okay we cross the bridge and we was at Newport. Coach Wyant gave us our lunch money and everybody did their own thing. About 1:15 we all gather around this pool to watch a couple of kids in big balls playing in the water. After that we cross the bridge to go back to Hughes but we took and different route and went up Mohawk street and went up on vine street. When we came back to Hughes everybody was excited that we all accomplish this goal.

Day 4 hike from hughes to Rookwood and back to Hughes

Today we rode from Hughes to Rookwood and then back to Hughes. We had to ride up some steep hill but going down hills was really fun. We rode up on Avondale and down the hills and i lot of people liked what we were doing and some people laughed at us because we was riding our bikes with our helmets on. When we got to Rookwood Commons and Pavilion most of us ate at Buffalo Wild Wings and Coach Wyant and Damarr ate  at Donato's pizza. It took us six miles to get at Rookwood Plaza. When we left Rookwood Plaza we had to ride another six miles to get back to Hughes we rode pass Withrow High School and some of the kids was trying to make fun of us but we held our ground and try to ignore them What i learned to day is i am mentally capable to do it even though i thought i wasn't physically capable but i did complete my challenge is to over come my fears and don't be so doubtful of what i can or can't do.

Day 3 hiking from Sharonville rockquest to hughes

Today we went to Sharonville rock quest with Mr. Sorrentino's fitness camp group. There was railroads in the street so we had to be careful while riding over them. After about seven miles one of my classmates name Antwan had to stop because he couldn't breath so we waited until Ms.Wright had to come and pick him up. About 3 miles after that destiny's bike chain popped and we walked our bike because Destiny had to until somebody came and picked it up. We walked our bikes up the rode until we went to Popeye's and McDonald's. After we finish eating coach potter came and picked up the bike and will offer to let Destiny ride his bike. 4 miles after that we was at avondale and Joe had problems breathing. 3miles later we went to Martin Luther King street and through u.c camp ground and to Hughes.

Day 2 hiking from luken airport to downtown and back to hughes

Today we went rode the bus to Luken Airport. It was very cold outside but as soon as you get on your bike your body temperature start to rise and you feel warm. When we got to eastern avenue when my classmate Jordon broke his bike because he was goofing around and saying things so coach Wyant had to call somebody to come and get the bike. Damarr one of our teachers that was with us try to fix the bike but he couldn't help. If he wasn't there i think we couldn't even make it to downtown.  I think the seriousness of  this is that Jordan could really have gotten hurt himself or someone else if he wouldn't been so careful. My ankle was hurting so i could no longer participate with the trail to downtown. I was in the car with Ms. Sherman the woman that picked me up and we took some photos and video the class riding down the rode in the street so we can use it in this presentation. We got lost and we rode around in a circle twice because some of the roads was blocked off or there was no bike paths. Coach Wyant was afraid of us getting hit by trucks because there was no bike trail. What i learned today was that everybody needs to be careful on a bike while riding in the street because people in the cars can run you over, if your are not careful and make sure you know your hand signals so the drivers can know what you are doing so that they can give your room to let you "drive" your bike.

Day 1 after the bike ride

When we first rode we went around the school twice. We went down Clifton. Here are all the places we went to.
  • Clifton
  • Mitchell
  • Springrove
  • West McMillan
  • Marshall
  • went up straight street
  • Hughes
The handle bars on some of the bikes kept on messing up and it was raining outside  when we was on the rode a truck driver shouted out the window and said: "I RUN OVER BIKE RIDERS" but he was just playing however at that moment i realised some people really do run over people who ride there bike in the street. When we got close to gold star chili we had to make a stop because TJ bike paddle came off and we had to go to a a shop to get some tools so that we can fix his bike and make sure all the handle bars was tight enough and not so lose. About six miles later we walked up straight street and stopped at Deaconess so that the rest of the class can catch up and that we can be together we rode to the back of the school so we can take our bikes inside the building. What i learned today was that even if i can't do something i can at least try to push myself to try and do it so i won't be so afraid.

Day 1

Today i learned about safety use of wearing a helmet. I learned about the risk of riding a bike without wearing a helmet.  Here are some information that i have learned....

  • The most serious injuries children could get while riding a bike is brain injuries. Brain injuries cannot be cured but can be prevented by wearing a helmet.
  • Boys 11-15 years old have the highest rate of injuries on bicycles, they also take most of the risks.
  • Most children can be seriously injured brain injury by 75%. This is why many places have bike helmet laws.
Here are some good safety tips of wearing a helmet:

  • Make sure your helmet covers at least the tip of your forehead.
  • Adjust the straps on the side of your helmet so your helmet is tight enough
  • Check to see if three fingers can fit from your eyebrow to your forehead to see if your helmet is tight enough
  • move your helmet up and down, and sides to check and see if it is not to loose or to tight around your head.
Here is my overall expectation of my experience of today is that i am very nerves because i haven't ride a bike in a long time but, i am also excited because this is a good way to use my legs.
